Thing #7

If you are a part of the Region 1 consortia and you  haven't spent time exploring what's available from Discovery Education - do it! I went to Region 1's Day of Discovery Workshop today and came back with many new ideas to pass on to our teachers. It's exciting as well as overwhelming the amount of resources we have available. Just browse and see what will work for you. Start by taking advantage of the TEACHER CENTER on the Discovery Education home page. Try the Writing Prompt Builder, Assignment Builder, and the Quiz Builder! There is a lesson plan library, an atlas builder where you can take your class on a virtual field trip to any where in the world, and a calendar that's great for so many more classroom applications. These resources can make your lessons fun and engaging for you and your students. Take advantage of this great resource.

Thing #6

Wow - there are tons of Flickr mashups to play with. I made several posters and trading cards with some family pictures I have but I'm at a loss as how to add them to this blog. I'll take any suggestions or hints.

I see how much fun it would be to have students make their own posters, trading cards or magazine covers to promote student accomplishments, activities, classroom assignments or  school milestones etc. The trading cards could also be used to make great activities for vocabulary development with our  ELL population. They would have fun making them.
