Thing #7

If you are a part of the Region 1 consortia and you  haven't spent time exploring what's available from Discovery Education - do it! I went to Region 1's Day of Discovery Workshop today and came back with many new ideas to pass on to our teachers. It's exciting as well as overwhelming the amount of resources we have available. Just browse and see what will work for you. Start by taking advantage of the TEACHER CENTER on the Discovery Education home page. Try the Writing Prompt Builder, Assignment Builder, and the Quiz Builder! There is a lesson plan library, an atlas builder where you can take your class on a virtual field trip to any where in the world, and a calendar that's great for so many more classroom applications. These resources can make your lessons fun and engaging for you and your students. Take advantage of this great resource.

Wow - there are tons of Flickr mashups to play with. I made several posters and trading cards with some family pictures I have but I'm at a loss as how to add them to this blog. I'll take any suggestions or hints.

I see how much fun it would be to have students make their own posters, trading cards or magazine covers to promote student accomplishments, activities, classroom assignments or  school milestones etc. The trading cards could also be used to make great activities for vocabulary development with our  ELL population. They would have fun making them.

Thing #5

Flickr is amazing!. I just set up a private account and added tons of pictures of my new nephews and nieces to share with the family. My sister in law and brother in law just had triplets and my nephew and his wife had a baby boy. Now I must figure out how to share them!

I uploaded the picture of the rain cloud I found browsing flickr to my blog for fun. Just wondering if we'll get any more rain or if we're in for another long dry spell.

How do I crop or edit?

Making my avatar and adding it to the blog was fun. It will be fun exploring to see how I can add it to other things. Now I'm off to registering my blog with Region One and then checking out some of your blogs. I know most of you are way ahead of me. I hope to catch up soon.
